Pancakes are loved by just about everyone; whether enjoyed for breakfast, or just about whenever you get the craving. How you eat your pancakes is only limited by your own imagination. So if you like them but are looking to try something new, then this ham and cheese pancake recipe should greatly please your taste buds!
Before trying your hand at this ham and cheese pancake recipe you will need a mixing bowl, large spatula, wooden spoon, and a good skillet. If you haven’t got a wooden spoon though, any spoon will suffice really.
Before you begin, there are a few things you will need to pull together, only a few basic kitchen tools. You will need a skillet or griddle, a mixing bowl, a large spatula to help you flip those pancakes and a wooden spoon (any spoon will do though if you don’t have a wooden one).
Now for the main part: the ingredients. Here is what is required for this recipe: 135 grams of self-rising flour, sifted, 125ml of cold milk, a large egg, one pinch of salt, 1 cup of ham, roughly chopped, 1/2 cup of your cheese of choice and 1 teaspoon of dill pickle or chopped dill. This is optional, but it does add a nice touch to it.
Be sure you possess everything you need; then get started. Place the flour, milk, egg and salt in your bowl. Combine all of those nicely, until your batter has a smooth texture to it. You can then incorporate the ham and the cheese and fold everything in nicely.
Allow the batter to rest for about 5 minutes before starting to cook. Drop spoonfuls of batter on the warm skillet or griddle, making sure to leave enough space between each for them to rise. Let them cook until you start noticing bubbles popping at the surface: they are ready to be flipped.
After you have turned your pancakes, be sure to monitor them. When they are evenly cooked all around, you are ready to enjoy! If for any reason you will not be eating your pancakes right away, you want to avoid them getting soggy.
This ham and cheese pancake recipe is delicious and provides a great alternative to the standard one. If you would like to spice things up even more, add a touch of cayenne pepper. Eat as is or with your favorite toppings.
