This is our families secret chocolate chip recipe. We have a large family so this one makes over 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies. You can experiment with most cookie recipes to adjust to your own taste. Remenmber the more brown sugar you use the more chewy type cookie you create. I don’t think this one needs much adjusting. First we will start with ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:

4 cups (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
1cup butter
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups yellow cake mix
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4cup sour cream
3 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions to cookie recipe.

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Melt butter and unsweetened chocolate together.
3. Sift cake mix, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
4. In a large bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
5. Stir the chocolate mixture into the eggs.
6. Stir in the sifted ingredients with sour cream.
7. Mix in chocolate chips.
8. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls cookie sheets.
9. Bake for until edges are starting to turn dark brown.

Enjoy these wonderful cookies at any occasion. They disappear very quickly at family events. You might notice my secret ingredient.

It is the boxed yellow cake mix. Cake flour gives the cookie a little more body than the regular unbleached flour.

You may use any of your favorite brands. If you are making smaller cookies don’t forget that the baking time goes down. Many ovens produce heat from the bottom of the oven, so as not burn the bottom of the cookies many times I will double pan the cookies before I bake them.

Baking is similar to a gigantic chemistry experiment. The best way to get the experiment right is to keep experimenting. Once you have found the best combinations of ingredients and procedures, stick with it.

wEnjoy!

  1. actually after the heat and scrub, you can spray the reheated pot with
spray cooking oil and it really seals the pots well. Must be done while pot
are still at a high temperature. I heat my pans to dry them each time and
re-grease or spray each time. really like this video, and really like using
    cast iron.

  2. Nice Video. Have you thought of possibly employing electrolysis to clean
off the rust from the cast iron wear? Some excellent cleaning videos I have
seen here on YouTube offer some helpful advise. Liked your video very much.

  3. Good times! Spending the extra time with the wire wheel and SOS pads,
getting in there with your hands and doing it with care and attention will
reward you many times over than doing it quickly. Doing it by hand is the
    point!

  4. At around 4 minutes you mention seasoning it three times. Do you put the
pot back in the 200 degree oven each time and if so, for how long each
    time? Great video, thanks.

  5. You seasoned before you had all the rust removed. It can clearly be seen
around 3:50, there’s rust on the paper towel and on the fabric laid on your
bench. Never season before you have the rust completely removed. A good
idea would be to soak in an acidic solution for a few hours and then use a
wire brush as you wash off.

  6. Hello. I just got my 12 in skillet today from Walmart today. Then I try to
season it again. First, I wash it with soap and then let it dry. Then I put
my organic sunflower oil into the pan and preheat the oven to 400 degree.
After 1 and half hour, the pan is not seasoned. The oil burned, and what I
got was burned oil all over the pan and the color is like brown. I try to
wash it with my soap and scrub very hard. The result is not good at all.
Now it gets rust and I don’t think I can clean off those burned oil stains.
Is there a good way to clean these stains off? Please help me
